Donald Bied’s images are created using his photographs of museum objects on display. He explores museums to discover his subject matter which he then uses to construct base-compositions. These base-compositions can then become the starting point for additional creative investigations which leads to multiple ‘States’. Bied’s compositions are developed by using a digital drawing/painting tablet and other computer-generated manipulations. The juxtaposition of the various object images elicit a quality, meaning and/or interpretation not necessarily inherent in the original intent of the objects presented. Pigmented inks and 100% rag paper are used to produce Bied’s archival inkjet prints.
